Division of International Education Management

[SIE] The Division of International Education Management under the School of International Education was established under the Decision No. 1631 / QĐ-ĐHTL dated 26 November 2012 by the Rector of Thuyloi University.

History:

The Division of International Education Management under the School of International Education was established under the Decision No. 1631 / QĐ-ĐHTL dated 26 November 2012 by the Rector of Thuyloi University.

 

Former name: Advanced Program Office.

Mission:

The Division of International Education Management has the following main duties: Implementing and managing the Undergraduate Advanced Programs in Civil Engineering in collaboration with the University of Arkansas, USA and Water Resources Engineering in cooperation with Colorado State University, USA, international training programs, performing scientific research tasks in the fields of professional management and management of students of international training programs.

 

Staff:

The staff of the Division of International Education Management is experienced in student management. They have good professional and English skills and devoted to their careers.

 

Facilities:

The Division of International Education Management is fully equipped for training such as computers, photocopier, scanner, air conditioners and internet.

 

Achievement of the Division of International Education Management:

Nine Undergraduate Advanced Batches in Water Resources Engineering have been enrolled in accordance with Colorado State University standards (since 2008).

Seven Undergraduate Advanced Batches in Civil Engineering have been enrolled in accordance with University of Arkansas, USA (since 2010).

Up to now, there have been 5 graduate batches in Water Resources Engineering and 3 graduate batches with more than 90% of graduates having jobs. The number of Undergraduate Advanced Program students has increased dramatically in recent years.

Fifty fine foreign instructors from both the University of Arkansas and Colorado State University, USA and other prestigious universities around the world have been invited to teach the Programs at Thuyloi University.

Facilitating the procedures for 73 instructors of Thuyloi University to attend lectures at the partner universities, USA to receive full documentation, detailed syllabus, teaching methods, student assessment methods, scientific research and exchange culture.

Facilitating procedures for management delegations of Thuyloi University to pay working visits to the partner universities, USA.

Regularly updating and reviewing Undergraduate Advanced Program syllabuses in Water Resources Engineering and Civil Engineering.

Each year organizing 4-5 local TOEFL / IELTS tests for students to improve their English proficiency.

Launching the movement and assisting students to register and carry out research projects. There have been 18 research projects reported in English before the scientific research assessment committee of advanced students in which: 01 first prize at University level; 01 second prize at University level, 01 third prize at University level; 03 second prizes at Center level and many consolation prizes.

Promoting international co-operation, coordinating with other units inside and outside the University to implement projects signed with the University: Dual Degree Partnership Program 2+2 for Partner Students signed by University of Arkansas, USA and Thuyloi University; Dual Degree Partnership Program 2+ N Option for Partner Students signed by Colorado State University and Thuyloi University; Preparation of Memorandum of Agreement procedure for signing between Thuyloi University and Cuomo Foundation for Strengthening the educational and training capacity for Thuyloi University in the period of 2016-2020 including multimedia room for teaching and learning foreign languages and scholarships for PhD students, bachelor graduation thesis and student scientific research.

In addition, student exchange with Asian universities, Japan, Korea, India and around the world has also been strengthened. Specifically, the Division of International  Education  Management has carried out procedures for sending 01 undergraduate advanced program student to study at the University of Arkansas, USA and 01 student to study at Colorado State University, USA under the programs 2+ 2 and 2+N, respectively; 02 students to study under Asia International Mobility for Students (AIMS) at Institute of Technology Bandung, Indonesia (ITB); 05 students at Malaysia Technology University (UTM); 06 students at Thornburi Technology University (KMUTT), Thailand; 13 students at Tsukuba University, Japan; 03 students for one year at Tohoku University, Japan; Accepting 02 students from ITB , Indonesia; 01 student from Tsukuba University, Japan; 10 students from KMUTT, Thailand to study at Undergraduate Advanced Program under AIMS program for one semester and 08 Lao students to study the program for the whole program.

Helping, counseling and guiding students in learning, scientific research, practice of thought, morality, style and lifestyle. Examining overall situation of student study in order to make timely adjustments. Meeting students in the warning list periodically. Collaborating with the Department of Political and Student Affairs to take part in the academic review for students each semester.

Assisting the SIE’s Youth Union to plan and host extra-curricular activities with foreign students, organizing events in English such as English speaking competition and soft skills training for Undergraduate Advanced Program Students.

Well implementing the promotion of advanced program enrollment; Organizing the meeting of new advanced students at the beginning semester, meeting with the students' parents; Organizing the introduction to student exchange programs; Organizing the graduation ceremony for students annually.
