[SIE] With high schools, career counseling for their students is an important job. However, given the fact that many universities now offer interdisciplinary training and much information on university/college admission on the Internet, and that makes it difficult 12th grade students to select an appropriate university. In order to support the process of university admission in the academic year 2017, the School of International Education (SIE) has been assigned by the rector board of Thuyloi University to consult the students at 8 high schools in Vinh Phuc province.
Mr. Do Tien Minh, principal of Tran Phu High School welcomed the SIE delegation.
On March 16th and 17th, 2017, the delegation of the School of International Education led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Mai Dang, Director of SIE, worked with Vinh Phuc Department of Education and Training and 8 high schools in the province. The delegation met with the rector boards of high schools and directly provided consultancy for 12th-grade students. Enrollment information related to Thuyloi University in 2017 on history, school traditions, majors, enrollment targets has been spread directly to about 3,000 final grade students.
Mr. Tran Dung Long, deputy director of the Vinh Phuc Department of Education and Training, said that the university enrollment is currently facing difficulties because of a decreased number of traditional majors. Mr. Long welcomed the policy of the Thuyloi University and promised to create favorable conditions for the delegation.
Talking with the delegation, Mr. Do Tien Minh, the principal of Tran Phu High School said that Thuyloi University is a large university with a long standing prestige, the way the delegation worked and contacted with students supported the school a lot for career guidance and helped 12th grade students have the opportunity to choose the right career in the future.
Also, the delegation met with the alumni of Thuyloi University who are working in the water resources departments, divisions of the province. Alumni, some held leadership positions, shared their feelings and appreciated the development of the university, and positively facilitated the work of the delegation during the mission.
The fieldtrip has helped the delegation of School of International Education gain a lot of meaningful experiences in the advantages and difficulties in training and career orientation for high school students these days. We hope that there will be a close linkage in the future between Thuyloi University and high schools in Vinh Phuc province, the motherland of talents such as former secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Kim Ngoc, the father of farming land households contract in Vietnam.
